Handmade Rosewood Tape Measure Rule with Stanhope PenPeep Artist: M. Sheibley
This tape measure made of very beautiful rosewood is a real conversation piece. It has a chrome PenPeep that adds a certain element of flair and looks like an expensive decoration. It also matches the chrome "pull" on the tape itself. The real excitement comes when you look inside and see the stanhope picture. I've made these with a variety of PenPeep images. The one I carry in my pocket while I work is made of ebony and has the Serenity Prayer inside. A Custom Photo PenPeep would also be a good choice.
Turned Round Maple Trinket Box with PenPeep Stanhope View in the Lid Artist: M. Sheibley
This is a maple trinket box that can be used to store small items, most often keepsake memorabilia. I made this one but similar boxes can be purchased at various places like box & gift supply stores. The lid has been drilled along with a puffed metal bead to make a decorative home for the PenPeep viewer. The PenPeep is screwed together through the wooden lid and the drilled bead. The metal bead is black and gold so a gold PenPeep was the perfect choice. Once assembled it forms a sort of decorative handle. Removing the lid allows light to pass through to see the image. This is an item I often make and I have used both STOCK IMAGE & CUSTOM PHOTOS.
Blues Harmonica with Risque PenPeep Photo Artist: M. Sheibley
This blues harmonica is an excellent example of a PenPeep used in a commercially available item. Look closely at the two golden screws on each end of the harmonica. The screw on the left has been replaced with a gold plated PenPeep! Nothing special was required to adapt this harmonica & the PenPeep has added to its aesthetics because it looks nicer than the old factory screw. The real excitement comes when you look inside to see the stanhope view. This one sports a 1950's era stock image risque photo that is really fitting in this piece. I usually replace each of the screws with PenPeeps for a really nice looking harmonica & two PenPeeps are better than one. The only tool used was a screwdriver & the job took just minutes.
Ebony Violin Mute with PenPeep MicroPhoto of Violinist Artist: M. Sheibley
This is a very common violin mute and another good scenario showing PenPeep creativity. Every person who plays a violin must have a mute. A mute is a tool that violinists use to "quiet" the instrument and change the sound. The gold plated PenPeep was not only easy to mount, but it also adds flair and panache to an otherwise ordinary item. The gold offers great contrast to the jet black ebony & this mute doesn't go unnoticed. The real excitement comes from a glance inside at the crystal clear photo that shows Nicolo Paganini. Paganini is the most famous violinist of all time & an idol to many violinists.
